Intelligence Brief
FlySpark Mothership Drone Release Mount is a single-lock child-drone air-launch dropper that lets a large carrier drone lift a smaller FPV-class drone of 8 inches or less, fly it to the work area and release it in flight. The 130 × 48 × 52 mm mount weighs approximately 90 g, runs on 5 V and opens its servo-driven latch on a standard PWM signal from the mother aircraft’s flight controller or receiver.

The Mothership release is part of the FlySpark UAV Payload Droppers & Release Systems range, supplied and supported in India by AnuShakti Infotech Pvt. Ltd., with export enquiries welcome from verified end users.
Small FPV-class drones are agile and inexpensive but limited in range, endurance and radio line of sight. Carrying one on a mothership saves the child drone’s battery for the task itself, lifts it above terrain masking and lets a single crew deploy it into valleys, over water, behind structures or far beyond its ground-launch range. The same mount can also release other payloads in the same size class, such as sensor pods, relay nodes, marker smoke canisters or rescue pouches.

The mount is deliberately simple: one servo, one lock and one standard 3-pin PWM lead. There is no proprietary controller to integrate, so it works with almost any flight controller or receiver that can drive a servo, and with CRSF / ELRS-only aircraft through the FlySpark ELRS-to-PWM output module. At about 90 g it barely affects the carrier’s payload budget, leaving the lift margin for the child drone itself.
Two versions share the same body. The single-lock PWM version straps or zip-ties directly to the mother aircraft for a dedicated mothership airframe. The single-lock SQ version uses a quick-release interface so the same mount can be moved between carrier aircraft in seconds; the aircraft-side quick-release base is sold separately.

The mount sits under the mother aircraft and its 3-pin lead plugs into a spare PWM output on the flight controller or receiver, which also supplies the 5 V servo rail. The pilot assigns a two-position switch, or a servo command from the ground control software, to that output. With the switch in the locked position the servo holds the latch closed around the child drone’s hanger point. Moving the switch opens the latch and the child drone drops clear of the carrier, after which the child pilot flies it on its own control and video link.
Before every mission, bench-test the latch with propellers removed, confirm the PWM endpoints, load the child drone and carry out a pull test on the latch.

Mother aircraft: large multirotors such as enterprise hexacopters and heavy-lift quadcopters with enough lift margin for the 90 g mount plus the child drone and its battery, a spare 5 V PWM servo output or receiver channel, and a flat underside or landing-gear rail for the strap or quick-release base.
Child aircraft: FPV-class drones of 8 inches or smaller, or other payloads in the same size class. Payload fit confirmed by FlySpark for the end user’s approved payload, including the hanger point that engages the latch.

For armed forces, paramilitary units, border and internal-security agencies, the Mothership release turns a heavy-lift drone into a carrier that places small drones, relays and sensors exactly where they are needed, without sending personnel forward.
For rescue services, utilities, researchers and media teams, an air-launched child drone reaches places a ground-launched small drone cannot, while the carrier keeps a strong link overhead.

The Mothership release is the FlySpark option for carrying and air-launching a complete child drone. For dropping small payloads directly from a camera drone or FPV-class drone, or for releasing several payloads in sequence, choose one of the sibling droppers below.

The FlySpark Mothership Drone Release Mount is supplied only to verified end users. The buyer is responsible for using lawful payloads, obtaining airspace permissions and complying with drone regulations and export controls. Release child drones and payloads only over a cleared area, never fly or release over people, and keep within the mother aircraft’s rated payload.
Q: What is a mothership drone release mount? A: It is a servo-operated release that fits under a large carrier drone (the mothership) and holds a smaller child drone or payload. On a switch command the latch opens and the child drone is released in flight, so it can start its own mission far from the launch point.
Q: What is the FlySpark Mothership Drone Release Mount? A: It is a single-lock child-drone air-launch dropper measuring 130 × 48 × 52 mm and weighing approximately 90 g. It runs on 5 V and is triggered by a standard PWM servo signal from the mother aircraft’s flight controller or receiver.
Q: What size of child drone can it carry? A: It is designed for FPV-class drones of 8 inches or smaller, or other payloads in that size class. Child-drone and payload fit is confirmed by FlySpark for the end user’s approved payload before supply.
Q: Which mother aircraft is it suitable for? A: Any large multirotor with enough lift margin for the 90 g mount plus the child drone and its battery, a spare 5 V PWM output or receiver channel, and a flat underside or landing-gear rail for the strap or quick-release base. Typical carriers are enterprise hexacopters and heavy-lift quadcopters.
Q: How is the release triggered? A: Assign a switch on the radio (or a servo command from the ground control software) to a spare PWM output. One switch position keeps the latch locked; the other opens it and releases the child drone.
Q: What is the difference between the PWM and SQ versions? A: Both use the same 130 × 48 × 52 mm, 5 V, PWM single-lock body. The PWM version is strapped or zip-tied directly to the mother aircraft, while the SQ version uses a quick-release interface so the mount can be swapped between aircraft in seconds. The aircraft-side quick-release base for SQ is sold separately.
Q: My mother aircraft only has a CRSF / ELRS receiver. Can I still use it? A: Yes. Add the FlySpark ELRS-to-PWM output module, which converts the receiver’s serial signal into a PWM servo output and includes a 5 V regulator. It is sold separately.
Q: Does the child drone fly on its own link? A: Yes. The child drone keeps its own radio, video and flight controller. The mothership only carries and releases it; the child pilot arms and flies it after release according to the child drone’s own procedures.
Q: Why use a mothership instead of flying the small drone from the ground? A: Small FPV-class drones have limited range and endurance. Carrying them on a large drone extends their reach, saves their battery for the task itself, lifts them above terrain masking for a better link, and lets one crew deploy them into valleys, over water or behind obstacles.
Q: Can it drop payloads other than drones? A: Yes. It can release other payloads in the same size class, such as sensor or beacon pods, relay nodes, marker smoke canisters or rescue pouches, provided FlySpark confirms the hanger fit and the mother aircraft has enough lift margin.
Q: What is the price of the mothership drone release in India? A: Price is on request and depends on the version (PWM or SQ), quantity and any custom hanger fit for your child drone. Contact FlySpark on WhatsApp or email for a quotation in INR or for export.
Q: What is the lead time, and do you export? A: Lead time is confirmed with the quotation. FlySpark supplies across India and handles export enquiries subject to end-user verification, applicable export-control rules and documentation.
Q: Can the release be used to carry weapons? A: No. FlySpark supplies this mount only to verified end users for lawful payloads such as drones, sensors, relays, marker smoke, training items and rescue supplies. Integration of any other payload is the end user’s responsibility and must comply with national law, procurement rules and export controls.
Q: Is it safe to release a child drone in flight? A: It is safe when done over a cleared area, with airspace permission, with both pilots briefed, and after a ground bench test of the latch with propellers removed. Never release over people, roads or property.
Q: How do I test it before a mission? A: With propellers removed, power the mother aircraft, toggle the release switch several times and confirm the latch opens and closes fully. Then load the child drone, do a pull test on the latch and check the PWM endpoint settings.
Q: Does the mount affect the mother aircraft’s flight? A: The mount itself adds about 90 g. The child drone adds its own weight and drag below the centre of gravity, so check the mother aircraft’s payload limit, hover throttle and wind limits before flight.
Q: How does it compare with other FlySpark droppers? A: Other FlySpark droppers release small payloads such as rescue pouches, smoke canisters or sensor pods from one or many channels. The mothership release is the dedicated option for carrying and air-launching a complete child drone of up to 8 inches.
Q: What warranty is included? A: Warranty covers manufacturing defects for 1 year under approved use and normal operating conditions. Crash damage, overload, wrong wiring or unauthorised modification may not be covered.
Q: Does FlySpark provide integration support? A: Yes. FlySpark / AnuShakti Infotech Pvt. Ltd. advises on carrier aircraft selection, PWM channel set-up, hanger fit for your child drone and safe release procedures.
