The operator assigns a switch on the ELRS transmitter to the release channel. The drone's ELRS receiver passes the channel data to the module over the CRSF serial link, the on-board microcontroller decodes it and generates a PWM servo signal, and the servo opens the dropper latch or release hook. The built-in step-down converts the drone supply to 5 V for the servo, so the receiver and flight controller are not loaded by servo current.
