Intelligence Brief
The FlySpark 8-Tube Drone Tear Gas Launcher is a less-lethal drone launcher and police drone payload for heavy-lift multirotor UAVs, supplied only to authorised police, paramilitary, military and government agencies. One quick-release module carries eight 38mm cartridge tubes, weighs 3.85kg, draws its power from the drone at DC 12–28V and is released by electric firing through an independent PWM remote-control channel with an 800m rated control distance.

The module measures 220 × 135 × 260mm and is built from POM, steel, aviation aluminium, carbon fibre and stainless steel. Clamp brackets on the top carbon plate fix it to the drone’s landing-gear tubes, and loading or unloading takes about three minutes. An eight-position magazine lets a single sortie cover a longer task window, and an onboard PAL/NTSC analogue camera gives the operator a forward view from the module. The launcher is part of the FlySpark Tactical UAV & FPV Drone Systems range and is offered as a UAV tear gas launcher for Indian agencies and, subject to approvals, for export.

The release function is fully separate from flight control: a dedicated 6-channel 2.4GHz remote drives an independent PWM channel, so the drone pilot and payload operator can work as a two-person team. Because the launcher runs on the drone’s own 12–28V supply, there is no extra battery to charge or manage, and the quick-release mount lets agencies move the payload between compatible airframes. FlySpark checks airframe compatibility, power wiring and lift margin before supply and can deliver a complete integrated package with operator training.

The eight 38mm tubes sit in a 3–2–3 layout around the centre camera, forming the eight-position magazine. The standard set-up releases one tube per command on the independent PWM channel, so the payload operator controls every release individually. Multi-tube sequence or salvo options depend on controller configuration and are confirmed by FlySpark during integration. Compatible cartridges are agency-approved 38mm smoke, tear gas (irritant) and signal/marking types, procured separately through authorised channels.

The launcher suits heavy-lift multirotors with landing-gear tube mounting, an airborne DC 12–28V supply, one spare PWM channel and enough lift margin for the 3.85kg module plus cartridges. Leg-tube clamps on the top carbon plate fix the module under the airframe, power comes from the drone’s bus and the release channel connects to a separate receiver, so loading or unloading takes about three minutes.

Release control stays separate from flight control at every level: the drone pilot flies on the flight link, while the payload operator uses the 6-channel 2.4GHz release remote whose PWM output drives the electric-excitation firing controller. FlySpark recommends an assigned arming switch that keeps release SAFE until the drone is on station, a receiver failsafe set to hold the no-release output if the link is lost, and transport of the module unloaded in its protective case.

The 8-Tube launcher is a payload, so it is normally paired with a heavy-lift carrier from the FlySpark range. FlySpark confirms mounting, power and PWM compatibility for each airframe before quoting an integrated package.
For armed forces and paramilitary units, the launcher adds a remotely released smoke, irritant and signal capability to existing heavy-lift drones for installation security and training.
For police and civil government agencies, it supports public-order and facility-security duties where authorised less-lethal equipment is part of approved procedures.

Every sortie follows five controlled steps: written authorisation, pre-flight checks with the tubes empty, arming only on station on supervisor command, deployment by a two-person pilot and payload-operator team under agency SOP, and recovery with logging of every release. FlySpark operator training covers the pre-flight, arming, deployment and recovery steps.

Before ordering, an agency needs an official purchase request, a signed end-user certificate and the licences or permissions that apply to less-lethal equipment and drone operations. The FlySpark agency training package then covers drone operation, launcher mounting and wiring, arming and fail-safe procedures, cartridge handling under agency SOP, maintenance and release reporting.

IMPORTANT USE NOTE: SALE RESTRICTED TO AUTHORISED GOVERNMENT AND LAW-ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. This is less-lethal riot-control equipment and is not sold to private individuals or private companies. Every order requires an official agency purchase request and a signed end-user certificate, plus any licence or permission required under the Arms Act, 1959, the Explosives Act, 1884 and related rules, DGCA drone regulations and applicable state and local law. Cartridges must be procured separately by the agency through authorised channels. The launcher must be operated only by trained personnel of the end-user agency, in line with the agency’s rules of engagement, use-of-force policy and the law. FlySpark may decline or cancel any order where end use cannot be verified.
Q: What is a drone tear gas launcher? A: A drone tear gas launcher is a less-lethal payload that lets an authorised agency release smoke, irritant or marking cartridges from a UAV instead of from the ground. The FlySpark 8-Tube model carries eight 38mm tubes in one quick-release module, runs on the drone’s DC 12–28V supply and is released by electric firing through an independent PWM remote channel with an 800m control distance.
Q: Is a police drone payload like this legal in India? A: It is legal only for authorised government and law-enforcement agencies that hold the required permissions under the Arms Act, Explosives Act and related rules, DGCA drone rules and state or local law. FlySpark supplies it only against an official purchase request and a signed end-user certificate.
Q: Who can buy this launcher? A: Sale is restricted to authorised government and law-enforcement agencies, including police, paramilitary, armed forces, prison/correctional authorities and other government security agencies. A valid end-user certificate and any licences or permissions required under Indian law are mandatory. FlySpark does not sell this product to private individuals or private companies.
Q: How many cartridges does it hold? A: Eight. The launcher has an eight-position cartridge magazine with eight 38mm tubes, so one sortie can cover a longer task window without returning to reload.
Q: What calibre is the launcher? A: Each tube has a 38mm diameter for standard 38mm less-lethal cartridges such as smoke, tear gas (irritant) and signal/marking types approved for the end user. Cartridges are not included and must be procured by the agency through authorised channels.
Q: How is the launcher fired? A: By electric excitation (electric firing). Release is triggered from an independent PWM channel on the supplied remote control, separate from the drone’s flight controls.
Q: Can it fire one tube at a time or several in a salvo? A: The standard set-up releases one tube per command, so the payload operator controls each release individually. Multi-tube sequence or salvo options depend on controller configuration and are confirmed by FlySpark during integration.
Q: What safety interlocks does the launcher use? A: Release runs on its own remote and PWM channel, never on the flight sticks. FlySpark recommends an assigned arming switch that keeps release SAFE until the drone is on station and a receiver failsafe set to hold the no-release output if the link is lost, and the module is transported unloaded in its protective case.
Q: What is the control distance? A: The release control link has a rated control distance of 800m, depending on the RF environment and antenna placement. This is the remote-control range, not a cartridge range; cartridge performance depends on the cartridge type used.
Q: What drones is it compatible with? A: It is designed for heavy-lift multirotors with leg-tube (landing-gear rail) mounting, an airborne 12–28V power supply and a spare PWM channel, and with enough lift margin to carry the 3.85kg module plus cartridges. FlySpark checks compatibility with your airframe before supply.
Q: How does it mount to the drone? A: It uses a quick-disassembly mount with clamp brackets on a top carbon plate that fix to the drone’s landing-gear tubes. Loading and unloading the module takes about three minutes.
Q: Does it have a camera? A: Yes. An onboard analogue camera (PAL 976(H) × 494(V), NTSC 768(H) × 494(V) active pixels) gives the operator a forward view from the module for situational awareness.
Q: What remote control is supplied? A: A 6-channel 2.4GHz handheld remote (2.4055–2.475GHz, 500kHz bandwidth, ≤20dBm transmit power) with PPM output on a PS2 interface, a 128 × 64 STN display, dual 26mm antennas, low-voltage alarm below 4.2V, 4 × AA (6V) supply and 392g weight.
Q: Can FlySpark supply a complete drone with the launcher? A: Yes. For authorised agencies FlySpark can quote an integrated heavy-lift drone and launcher package, including mounting, wiring, testing and operator training, subject to end-user verification.
Q: What paperwork is required to order? A: An official purchase request from the agency, a signed end-user certificate stating the end use and that the product will not be re-transferred, and any licence or permission required under the Arms Act, Explosives Act and related rules, DGCA drone rules and state or local law. Additional documentation may be requested.
Q: What is the drone tear gas launcher price in India? A: Price is on request and quoted only to verified government and law-enforcement buyers, based on configuration, quantity, airframe integration and training needs.
Q: What is the lead time, and do you export? A: The launcher is built on order, and lead time is confirmed in the quotation after end-user verification. Export enquiries from foreign government agencies are considered case by case, subject to Indian export-control approvals and the importing country’s laws.
Q: Can the launcher be used with lethal ammunition? A: No. It is a less-lethal UAV payload designed only for agency-approved 38mm smoke, irritant and signal/marking cartridges. Any other use is outside its intended purpose, and lawful, policy-compliant operation remains the end-user agency’s responsibility.
Q: What warranty is included? A: Warranty covers manufacturing defects for 1 year under approved use and normal operating conditions. Damage from crashes, unapproved cartridges, wrong wiring, misuse or unauthorised modification may not be covered.
