Intelligence Brief
The FlySpark ZD4 4-Channel Drone Payload Dropper is a compact payload release system that carries four payloads under a small drone and releases each one independently on command. It measures 90 × 146 × 48 mm, weighs approximately 120 g, runs on 5 V and is controlled over a CRSF (Crossfire / ELRS) serial link, so four separate drops can be made on a single sortie without landing to reload.

The ZD4 is part of the FlySpark UAV Payload Droppers & Release Systems range, supplied and supported in India by AnuShakti Infotech Pvt. Ltd. to verified defence, government security, public-safety and professional integrator customers, with export enquiries welcome.
Four curved cradles, arranged in two pairs either side of a central spine, conform to the payload so it sits low and secure under the aircraft. Each cradle is closed by a hook-and-loop strap whose end is held by its own release latch. The unit is lightweight, highly reliable and simple to operate, and is offered in two versions: the standard ZD4-CRSF and the ZD4-SQ-V2 quick-release version.

Most small droppers carry one or two payloads. The ZD4 doubles that to four while staying at approximately 120 g and on a 5 V supply, which keeps it within the payload margin of typical FPV-class and custom-built multirotors. Independent control per channel means each payload can be placed at a different point on the same flight, a practical advantage for rescue, signalling, sensor emplacement and training missions where every sortie counts.

The ZD4 connects to the CRSF serial output of the aircraft’s Crossfire or ExpressLRS (ELRS) receiver. The operator assigns four switches or buttons on the radio, one per release channel. When a channel is commanded, its latch frees the strap end and the payload in that cradle drops clear while the other three remain secured.

Because every channel is independent, the operator can release a single payload, step through all four at separate drop points, or map two or more channels to one switch for a grouped release.

The ZD4 is designed for FPV-class drones and custom-built multirotors with a Crossfire or ELRS receiver, and can be fitted to camera drones and other small aircraft that have a suitable mounting point and spare payload capacity. The standard ZD4-CRSF is strapped or tied flat under the aircraft’s bottom plate and centred under the centre of gravity. The ZD4-SQ-V2 sits on a quick-release base so the dropper can be removed or moved between aircraft in seconds; the aircraft-side quick-release mount is sold separately. Always check all-up weight against the aircraft’s rated payload before flight.

For defence, border, police and government security users, the ZD4 adds four independent delivery channels to a small multirotor for signalling, resupply, sensor emplacement and training.

For emergency services, utilities, agriculture and research teams, the ZD4 delivers four separate small payloads on one flight where reaching the site on foot is slow or unsafe.

The ZD4 sits in the middle of the FlySpark ZD series: more payloads than the single and dual-channel units, while staying lighter and on a 5 V supply compared with the six and eight-channel models. Choose by the number of drops per sortie, the aircraft’s payload margin and the control interface it offers.
IMPORTANT USE NOTE: The ZD4 is supplied only to verified end users. The buyer is responsible for using only lawful, authorised payloads, for obtaining all airspace permissions and for complying with export controls and procurement rules. Payload fit is confirmed by FlySpark for the end user’s approved payload. Never fly over people, release only over a cleared area, and keep the all-up weight within the aircraft’s rated payload.
Q: What is a drone payload dropper? A: A drone payload dropper (payload release system) is a small latch unit fitted under a drone that holds one or more payloads in flight and releases them on command from the operator’s radio. It is used for rescue drops, marker and signalling payloads, sensor emplacement and training.
Q: What is the FlySpark ZD4? A: The FlySpark ZD4 is a 4-channel drone payload dropper with independent control of each channel. It measures 90 × 146 × 48 mm, weighs approximately 120 g, runs on 5 V and is controlled over a CRSF (Crossfire / ELRS) serial link.
Q: Can each channel be released independently? A: Yes. Each of the four channels is controlled independently from the operator radio, so you can drop one payload, step through all four at separate points, or map several channels to one switch for a grouped release.
Q: What control signal does the ZD4 use? A: The ZD4 is listed with a CRSF signal: it connects to the CRSF serial output of a Crossfire or ExpressLRS (ELRS) receiver, and the release channels are assigned to switches on the operator radio.
Q: What is the difference between ZD4-CRSF and ZD4-SQ-V2? A: ZD4-CRSF is the standard version that is strapped or tied directly under the aircraft. ZD4-SQ-V2 is the quick-release version: the dropper sits on a quick-release base so it can be removed or swapped between aircraft quickly. The aircraft-side quick-release mount is sold separately.
Q: Which drones is the ZD4 compatible with? A: The ZD4 is intended for FPV-class drones and custom-built multirotors with a Crossfire or ELRS receiver, and can also be fitted to camera drones and other small aircraft that have a suitable mounting point and spare payload capacity.
Q: Does the ZD4 fit DJI Mavic or Air drones? A: DJI Mavic and Air camera drones do not provide a CRSF receiver output, so the light-sensor (LED) versions of the single-channel ZD1-V3 and dual-channel ZD2-V3 are usually the better choice for those aircraft. Contact FlySpark to confirm the right model for your aircraft.
Q: How heavy a payload can each channel hold? A: Payload mass and diameter per cradle are confirmed by FlySpark for the end user’s approved payload. The total of dropper, payloads and mounting must stay within the aircraft’s rated payload and keep the centre of gravity under the aircraft.
Q: How is the ZD4 mounted? A: The standard ZD4-CRSF is fixed flat under the aircraft’s bottom plate with straps or zip-ties and centred under the centre of gravity. The ZD4-SQ-V2 uses a quick-release base that mates with a separately purchased aircraft-side mount.
Q: What are typical uses of a 4-channel drone dropper? A: Search-and-rescue drops of radios, flotation aids and first-aid kits, marker and signalling smoke, sensor and beacon emplacement, inert training payload drops, utility pilot-line drops, agricultural seed-ball and bio-control capsule drops, and university research.
Q: Who decides which payloads may be carried? A: The ZD4 is supplied as a general-purpose payload release unit to verified end users. The buyer is responsible for using only lawful, authorised payloads in accordance with national law, airspace permissions, procurement rules and export controls.
Q: What is the lead time, and do you export? A: Lead time is confirmed with the quotation and depends on quantity and variant. FlySpark supplies across India and handles export enquiries subject to end-user verification and applicable export-control documentation.
Q: Is a PWM version of the ZD4 available? A: The ZD4 is listed with CRSF control. For aircraft that only provide PWM servo outputs, FlySpark can advise on a PWM-triggered sibling model or a receiver-to-PWM output module; confirm your aircraft’s interface when ordering.
Q: How do I test the ZD4 before flight? A: Bench-test all four channels with the propellers removed, confirm each switch on the radio opens the correct latch, check strap tension on every cradle and verify all-up weight and balance before the first flight.
Q: How does the ZD4 compare with the ZD6 and ZD8? A: The ZD4 is the compact 5 V, four-channel model at approximately 120 g. The ZD6 (6 channels, approx. 300 g) and ZD8 (8 channels, approx. 350 g) carry more payloads but are larger and need a 7–28 V supply.
Q: Does FlySpark provide integration support? A: Yes. FlySpark / AnuShakti Infotech Pvt. Ltd. supports receiver wiring, radio channel mapping, mounting, payload-fit confirmation, operator familiarisation and after-sales service.
Q: What warranty is included? A: Warranty covers manufacturing defects for 1 year under approved use and normal operating conditions. Crash damage, overload, wrong wiring or voltage, and unauthorised modification may not be covered.
