Intelligence Brief
FlySpark AM600 is a modular wheeled UGV robot chassis with front Ackermann steering, built for developers and integrators who need a car-like, drive-by-wire base that works both indoors and outdoors. It carries a 50kg payload on level ground, reaches 9.7km/h and covers up to 60km unladen (40km laden) on a single charge, all in a compact 900 × 600 × 310mm, 55kg package.
The AM600 is part of the FlySpark Unmanned Ground & Surface Vehicles (UGV / USV) range. Unlike skid-steer robots, it uses front Ackermann steering with rear motor drive, so the wheels roll around a common turning centre just like a car. That means less tyre scrub, smoother trajectories, lower energy use and kinder treatment of finished floors — ideal for autonomous navigation where predictable motion matters. Two 350W in-wheel hub servo motors with 1024-line magnetic encoders give fast torque response and mm-level control precision, while double-wishbone independent suspension on all four wheels filters vibration from paving, ramps, gravel and grass.

The AM600 climbs 20° slopes unladen (10° laden), surmounts 50mm obstacles, crosses 160mm gaps unladen (140mm laden) and wades through 100mm of water. It is rated IP44 and operates from -20°C to 50°C in high temperature, night, light rain, wind, light snow and light fog. Power comes from a 48V 20Ah battery as standard, with a 48V 40Ah pack available for longer missions, and recharges in about 2–3 hours.

The AM600 is designed as an open, vehicle-grade drive-by-wire platform. It switches between remote control and host-computer command control, runs its own kinematics algorithm with acceleration and deceleration planning, and exposes a standard CAN 2.0B protocol with a ROS1 / ROS2 drive package (SDK) for rapid secondary development. Your autonomy computer simply sends motion commands — the chassis handles Ackermann geometry, speed control and safety.

Safety is built into the vehicle control unit (VCU), which runs 20 protection strategies across hardware and software: emergency stop, communication heartbeat, communication timeout, BCC checksum, overtemperature, overload, short-circuit and steering-limit protection, plus motor braking and motor parking. Electronics live in a modular, detachable EC-box protected against high and low temperature, water pressure, vibration and salt spray, so servicing or upgrading takes minutes instead of hours.
The AM600 sits in the middle of the FlySpark wheeled UGV family: it carries more and travels further than the AM400 while keeping efficient, car-like Ackermann steering for long outdoor routes on paving and gravel. Choose a tracked TK model when soft ground, stairs or deeper water dominate the mission, or the OM600 when you need omnidirectional motion with heavy loads.

The flat deck with two aluminium mounting rails accepts sensors, robot arms, gimbal cameras, delivery cabinets and AI compute modules, powered directly from 48V 10A, 24V 15A and 12V 15A outputs. An optional navigation configuration adds 16-channel 3D lidar, depth camera, RTK GNSS, IMU, industrial computer, display and router for 2D/3D map building, centimetre-level positioning, autonomous path planning, intelligent obstacle avoidance, multi-sensor fusion, app-based path drawing, virtual walls and autonomous docking-station charging.

For defence and security establishments, the AM600 provides a quiet, electric, open-protocol base for patrol, surveillance and logistics robots inside bases, depots and training facilities.
In industry and research, the AM600 is a fast way to build reliable delivery, inspection and mapping robots without designing a drive system from scratch.

The AM600 measures 900 × 600 × 310mm with a 600mm wheelbase, 518mm wheel track, 240mm tyres and 93mm ground clearance, and weighs 55kg. Full specifications are listed in the specifications table on this page.

IMPORTANT USE NOTE: The AM600 is a mobile robot chassis for lawful industrial, security, research, inspection and logistics applications. Operate it only on sites where you have permission, keep people clear during autonomous operation, respect the 50kg rated payload, IP44 rating and 100mm wading limit, and follow local safety, RF and site regulations. Any radio links added for remote operation must use legally permitted frequencies and power levels.
Q: What is the FlySpark AM600 wheeled UGV robot chassis? A: The FlySpark AM600 is a modular, lightweight, four-wheeled UGV (unmanned ground vehicle) robot chassis with front Ackermann steering and rear motor drive. It carries 50kg on level ground, reaches 9.7km/h and offers up to 60km range unladen, making it an open drive-by-wire base for delivery, inspection, patrol and research robots.
Q: What is a UGV robot chassis? A: A UGV robot chassis is the drive base of an unmanned ground vehicle: wheels or tracks, motors, suspension, battery and a controller that accepts motion commands. Integrators add sensors, compute and mission payloads on top to build delivery, inspection, patrol or research robots.
Q: What does Ackermann steering mean on a robot chassis? A: Ackermann steering turns the front wheels at slightly different angles so that all four wheels roll around a common turning centre, just like a car. Compared with skid-steer platforms it reduces tyre scrub, lowers power use, protects floors and gives smoother, more predictable paths for autonomous navigation.
Q: What is the range and top speed of the AM600? A: Mileage is rated at up to 60km unladen and 40km laden, and the maximum speed is 9.7km/h with acceleration and deceleration planning for smooth starts and stops. Actual range depends on battery option (48V 20Ah standard or 48V 40Ah optional), payload, terrain, speed and temperature.
Q: What motors drive the AM600? A: Two 350W in-wheel hub servo motors with 1024-line magnetic encoders drive the rear wheels. The hub motors are sealed for operation in harsh conditions and give fast torque response.
Q: What terrain can the AM600 handle? A: It climbs 20° slopes unladen and 10° laden, surmounts 50mm obstacles, crosses 160mm gaps unladen (140mm laden) and wades through 100mm of water. Double-wishbone independent suspension on all four wheels filters vibration on paving, gravel, grass, ramps and rough factory floors.
Q: Is the AM600 waterproof, and what temperatures can it work in? A: The AM600 is rated IP44, which protects against splashing water and solid objects over 1mm, and it operates from -20°C to 50°C. It is suitable for light rain, light snow, fog and wind, but it should not be pressure-washed or submerged beyond the 100mm wading depth.
Q: Is the AM600 a good outdoor delivery robot platform? A: Yes. Ackermann steering, 9.7km/h top speed, up to 60km range, IP44 protection and independent suspension suit paved and gravel delivery routes across campuses, hospitals, factories and communities. Add a delivery cabinet on the rail deck and the optional navigation kit for autonomous routes.
Q: Should I choose a wheeled or a tracked UGV? A: Choose a wheeled Ackermann UGV such as the AM600 for efficient, quiet, long-range travel on paving, roads, gravel and factory floors. Choose a FlySpark tracked chassis (TK650, TK990, TK1000 or TK2100) when soft soil, stairs, steep slopes or deeper water dominate the mission.
Q: How is the AM600 controlled? A: The vehicle-grade drive-by-wire system supports switching between remote control and host-computer command control. A host computer sends motion commands over CAN 2.0B using a standard protocol, and the onboard kinematics algorithm handles Ackermann geometry and acceleration planning.
Q: Is the AM600 a ROS2 robot chassis? A: Yes. A ROS1 / ROS2 drive package (SDK) is available for the CAN 2.0B interface, so the chassis can be brought up quickly in ROS-based navigation, mapping and fleet software.
Q: What safety protections are built in? A: The VCU runs 20 safety protection strategies across hardware and software, including emergency stop, communication heartbeat, communication timeout, communication BCC checksum, overtemperature, overload, short-circuit and steering-limit protection, plus motor braking and motor parking.
Q: How do I integrate payloads on the AM600? A: Payloads bolt to the two aluminium mounting rails on the flat deck and draw power from the 48V 10A, 24V 15A and 12V 15A outputs, within the 50kg level-ground payload. Typical payloads include computers, lidar, cameras, radios, robot arms and delivery cabinets.
Q: How long does charging take? A: Charging takes about 2–3 hours with the 48V 10A charging adapter. An optional docking charging station enables autonomous charging when the navigation kit is fitted.
Q: Is autonomous navigation available? A: Yes, as an option. The navigation configuration can add 3D lidar (16-channel), depth camera, RTK GNSS antennas, IMU, industrial computer, display and router, with 2D/3D map building, centimetre-level positioning, point-to-point path planning, obstacle avoidance, multi-sensor fusion, path drawing on an app, virtual walls and auto-charging.
Q: How easy is the AM600 to service? A: Electronics sit in a modular, detachable EC-box designed to withstand high and low temperatures, water pressure, vibration and salt spray. It can be removed quickly for maintenance or upgrades.
